Abstract

Background: Early marriage is a social problem that still occurs in many areas, including the village of Umung in the Satar Mese subdistrict, where the rate of early marriage remains high. This situation is influenced by various factors, such as low levels of knowledge among adolescents about the impact of early marriage, suboptimal parenting patterns, and the influence of peer groups.

Objective: The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between knowledge, parenting patterns, and peer groups on the incidence of early marriage in Umung Village. Method: this study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach and involved 68 respondents, consisting of 34 adolescents who married early and 34 adolescents who did not marry early, selected using total sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test and logistic regression analysis.

 Results: The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge, parenting patterns, and peer groups with early marriage, with significance values of 0.000, 0.002, and 0.000, respectively. The results of the logistic regression analysis showed that peer groups were the most influential factor on the incidence of early marriage, with a significance value of 0.020. Conclusion: Study is that adolescent knowledge, parenting patterns, and peer influence have a significant relationship with the incidence of early marriage in Umung Village. Efforts to increase knowledge and strengthen the role of the family as well as youth group development need to be carried out to reduce the rate of early marriage and create a quality young generation
