Efektivitas Edukasi Diet DASH Terhadap Perilaku Diet Pasien Diabetes Melitus
Abstract
Eating behavior is important in determining the nutritional status of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. One of the strategies in diabetes mellitus management is education, which aims to encourage positive changes in eating habits. This study aims to analyze the effect of education on diabetes mellitus diet modification and the DASH diet on changes in food types, consumption amounts, and eating frequency among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus at a community health center (Puskesmas) in West Java. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach involving 52 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The analysis results, using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test, showed a significant difference before and after the education on diabetes mellitus diet modification and the DASH diet regarding changes in food types (p-value = 0.001 < 0.05), consumption amounts (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05), and eating frequency (p-value = 0.001 < 0.05) among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus at a community health center in West Java. In conclusion, education on the mellitus diet modification and the DASH diet influences changes in eating behavior among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus in the region.
