Abstract

Background :Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a serious global health issue, and Indonesia has the second highest number of cases in the world. Data from Ruteng Regional General Hospital shows difficulties in patient compliance with anti-tuberculosis drug therapy (OAT). Although similar studies have been conducted in various regions, research in Manggarai District remains limited. Given the high prevalence of pulmonary TB in Manggarai, it is crucial to understand the factors influencing adherence, particularly self-efficacy, as a foundation for developing more effective intervention strategies at the local level. Research Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and adherence to OAT therapy among pulmonary TB patients at Ruteng General Hospital. Research Methods: The study design used was an analytical correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique applied was non-probability sampling using accidental sampling, involving 108 pulmonary TB patients. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis (frequency distribution) and bivariate analysis using Kendall's tau statistical test. Results: Univariate analysis showed that 55 respondents (50.9%) had good self-efficacy, while 40 respondents (37.0%) demonstrated good adherence to OAT therapy. A significant association was found between self-efficacy and adherence to OAT therapy among pulmonary TB patients at Ruteng General Hospital, with a P-value of 0.006 (<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that self-efficacy has a significant association with patient adherence to OAT therapy.
