Abstract

Background: Uncontrolled postoperative pain following Total Knee Replacement (TKR) may lead to delayed early mobilization, impaired rehabilitation, and decreased patient satisfaction with healthcare services. Postoperative pain management has evolved toward a multimodal analgesia approach, including regional anesthesia techniques such as the Femoral Nerve Block (FNB).

Objective: To determine the effectiveness of Femoral Nerve Block in reducing pain intensity among patients after Total Knee Replacement surgery.

Methods: This study employed a case study method with a descriptive observational approach. Direct observation was conducted on post-TKR patients who received FNB, with pain intensity measured using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) and additional analgesic requirements recorded during the first 48 hours postoperatively. score of 3–4 at 6 hours postoperatively to 1–2 within 48 hours after surgery.

Conclusion: Femoral Nerve Block is effective and safe for postoperative pain management following Total Knee Replacement, as it significantly reduces pain intensity and supports patient recovery. It is recommended that FNB be included as part of the standard multimodal pain management protocol for post-TKR patients.
